An unusual journey into Italian singer-songwriter music of all time

Petra Magoni is an eclectic Italian singer, appreciated for her ability to move from one musical genre to another, capable of involving the audience with her stage magnetism and her intense emotionality. Her voice, characterized by a wide dynamic range and perfect control of the falsetto, is accompanied by a strong interpretative component that makes it unique in the musical panorama. In addition to being a talented singer, Petra has also worked as an author and actress, having an extensive professional background that includes experience in rock, early music and opera.

During his career, she has participated in important events such as the Sanremo Festival and has collaborated with numerous Italian and international artists, including Al JarreauMorganMassimo RanieriStefano BollaniMario BiondiPeppe ServilloPaolo Benvegnù and many others. Since 2003, she has formed the duo Musica Nuda with double bass player Ferruccio Spinetti, achieving success all over the world and releasing numerous albums.

Petra has also undertaken several recent projects, including collaborations with pianist Andrea Dindo, in the project Canzoni in bianco e nero and Petra canta Brecht and with Arké String Quartet in the project Subversion. He also collaborates with the guitarist Finaz, and the mandolinist Vincent Beer-Demander, exploring new sounds and musical styles. Finally, she recently received the Eccellenze Musica Italiana nel Mondo award for her contribution to music.

 

 

Mauro Ottolini is considered one of Italy’s most important musicians. A composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, and brass specialist, he graduated with honors in trombone and trumpet from the Verona Conservatory in 1993, and a few years later, earned a degree in jazz from the Trento Conservatory. He played for 12 years in the Verona Arena Orchestra, but then decided to quit to pursue the music he loves most: jazz. In addition to the trombone as his primary instrument, he explored the language of all brass instruments, including the sousaphone, trumpet, flugelhorn, bass trumpet, and euphonium. In 2012, he won the national critics’ “Top Jazz” award as “best Italian jazz musician.” He has received numerous accolades as a composer and arranger, winning numerous critical acclaim. He collaborates on various projects with the great jazz trumpeter Enrico Rava, and has collaborated with Kenny Wheeler, Dave Douglas, Paolo Fresu, Trilok Gurtu, Stefano Bollani, Jan Garbarek, Franco D’Andrea, Carla Blay, Fabrizio Bosso, Frank Lacy, Steve Swallow, Tony Scott, Han Bennink, Maria Schneider, Gary Valente, Sean Bergin, and many others. He also collaborates with some of the biggest names in black music, such as Grace Jones, Gino Vannelli, Emy Stewart, and Joe Bowie. In Italy, Ottolini has also had the pleasure of collaborating with great names, including Vinicio Capossela, Lucio Dalla, Patty Pravo, Rossana Casale, Alberto Fortis, Gino Paoli, Giuliano Sangiorgi, Negramaro, Subsonica, Daniele Silvestri, Raphael Gualazzi, Gaetano Curreri, Morgan, Renzo Rubino, Malika Ajane, Simona Molinari, Karima, Petra Magoni, Roy Paci, Motta, Brunori SAS and many others.
